The boys and I baked snickerdoodles this afternoon.

I was inspired by this post written by Andy from my favorite food blog, Dinner: A Love Story. If you get a chance to read it, you'll find that he's a great writer with a great sense of humor and an even better dad who can kill it in the kitchen. Snickerdoodles with his girls inspired me to snickerdoodle with my boys.

They loved rolling the dough into balls (like playdough) and tossing them into a bowl of the sugar coating that they happily licked off each finger (no double dipping).

Here he is coating the butter balls with a mixture of cinnamon, sugar, and Andy's secret weapon, salt.

SALT...of course! It definitely made a difference.

The cookies were sooo yummy and just as Andy described: "cake-y and buttery...solid, sturdy, reliable. Strong! Not dainty."

The fool-proof recipe yields 5 dozen 2-inch cookies.

This one's a keeper.
