Fourth of July.

Over the holiday, June29 and I took our first solo trip across the country to visit my new goddaughter, V, in DC. It was just the two of us and it was a trip that I'll cherish for a long time. (Not to mention traveling with a 6 year old is infinitely easier than with a 19 month old.)

Spending 24/7 alone with my oldest son was a great bonding experience for the both of us and made June29 the focus of all my attention - as it once was - for a few precious days. Those moments are so much harder to come by with a younger sibling who inadvertently commands most of the attention these days; and I'd be lying if I said he wasn't affected by it in some ways. Oh, no doubt we missed his little brother. But knowing November9 was in good hands at home with Dad and the grandparents was enough for me to revel in our time together.

Coming home was really sweet. Little brother was so happy to see us and big bro couldn't keep his hands off of him for quite a while. Absence makes the heart even fonder.
